Brief background:
Lantis was one of mage Clef's apprentices along with Alcyone and his brother Zagato. When princess Emeraude became the Pillar of Cephiro, Zagato took the title of Sol (Priest who helps Pillar with her prayers). Lantis as only Cail in Cephiro became captain of the princess’s guard. As Pillar supported everything in Cephiro, Lantis had very little work to do and thus he wasn't too concerned about his position.
Zagato and Emeraude fell in love with each other. Emeraude saw that she couldn't be a Pillar anymore and summoned Magic Knights from another world to kill herself. Zagato didn't accept that and wanted to protect the Pillar. When Lantis learned about his brother betrayal, he didn't want to take sides with or against Zagato and so he left Cephiro and went to Autozam.
In Autozam he joined Autozam's military. There he became friends with Geo Metro, Zazu Torque and Eagle Vision. He developed strong relationship with Eagle. Almost as strong as Fuuma's love for froggie. This couldn't go on for when news about deaths of Zagato and Emeraude reached Autozam, Lantis returned to Cephiro to destroy its pillar system.
Lantis was rather concerned about what Eagle said before he left. He said he had made his decision. Lantis left wondering what could that have meant.
